Sparkling Seeds II by Hanna Heino is a work rooted in the intimacy of close observation and the quiet discipline of daily life stripped to its essentials. Created during a five-month stay in an abandoned house by the forest, a place without floors, without windows, where the kiln lived beneath a decaying porch and the day began and ended outdoors, the work emerged from an unlikely garden. Under the studio window, Heino dug benches from the earth and lined them with old bricks, coaxing a small patch of life into being. From that spot, she watched tiny seeds become blooms and herbs, a process of patient unfolding that became both the subject and the spirit of the work

Three forms rise in careful equipoise — a broad, earth-smoothed base; a dense middle volume alive with layered, petal-like surfaces; and a small, luminous seed form balanced at the crown, glazed to a soft sheen. Each element speaks a different register of growth: the grounded, the generative, the nascent. Together they compose a kind of quiet tower of becoming, an image of nature's persistence rendered in pale, unified tones that suggest bone, stone, and dried grass in equal measure

The textures carry the work's emotional weight. The fine, almost granular surface of the base evokes soil and bark; the middle form burgeons with overlapping ceramic petals, each one hand-placed, accumulating into something abundant and alive; the topmost element holds its gloss like a drop of morning light. In their differences, the three forms find an unexpected harmony — held together by the same muted palette and by the same underlying truth: that small things, tended with patience, become extraordinar

Heino’s artistic endeavors revolve around crafting unique ceramic sculptures that blend altered textures and abstract forms while honoring clay in its purest state. She draws inspiration from a rich tapestry of historical allusions and the architecture of antiquity, intertwining them with subtle references to the natural world. Based in TURKU, Finland, Heino founded her studio in 2019 after 15 years of diverse experience in interior design and residential development. dedicating herself to her artistic practice and Without formal training, she has mastered materials and techniques, forging her expressive identity as a ceramicist


Heino’s work has garnered critical acclaim and has been exhibited in premiere galleries in Paris, Brussels, and Milan. In 2024, she was awarded the 5th Officine Saffi Award, receiving a special Casa Wabi Residency prize. Her works adorn distinguished private and public collections worldwide, including The Royal Mansour hotel in Casablanca, Cartier’s New York Mansion, and The Hotel Maria in Finland
